Lutalin® is an oily formulation of omega-6 fatty acids (CLA). The product is used for fattening pigs with 0.5% Lutalin® in the diet over the last 4 weeks of the fattening period. In dog feed Lutalin® is recommended with 0.5% in the diet.
Omega-6-fatty acids are influencing the fat metabolism in mono-gastric animals. In fattening pigs, the main effects described in the scientific literature are an increase in lean meat percentage of the carcass and a relative increase of the percentage of intra-muscular fat in the muscles. It is well known, that an increasing percentage of intra-muscular fat is positively influencing the taste of meat. In the petfood market, Omega-6-fatty acids are used for dogs.
