Regulations

Apocarotenal is approved for use as a food colorant in most countries.

Stability

The apocarotenal dispersion is stabilized with approximately 1% DL-α-tocopherol (E307). Stored in its unopened original packaging at room temperature (max. 25 °C), the product is stable for at least 24 months.

Properties of Beta-Apo-8'-carotenoids

  • deep-violet or rust-red powders
  • luminous colour is attributed to conjugated double bonds and a carbonyl group.
  • insoluble in water and glycerol
  • sensitive to light, air, and acids
