Global Reporting Initiative reaffirmed maximum transparency to BASF Report

In its Report 2010 published today, BASF demonstrates how it creates measurable value for employees, shareholders, customers and society with its innovative products and solutions. BASF reached an important goal in 2010: Specific greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced by 29% compared with 2002, so that the company reached its goal for 2020 for the first time.

The report combines economic, ecological and social aspects. The publication meets the internationally recognized Standards of Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) for sustainability reporting. The independent institution reaffirmed maximum transparency for the fourth time in succession, issuing an A+ rating.

The report documents BASF’s entrepreneurial performance and shows how sustainability contributes to corporate success. BASF has contributed its know-how to the development of this new standard elaborated by international sustainability experts. The new guidelines aim for more transparency and conformity in corporate carbon reporting.

The result of BASF’s corporate carbon footprint for 2010: In addition to significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from its own production BASF reduced its customers’ CO2-footprint by 322 million tons through innovative climate protection solutions.
