UV filter: Market launch of Tinosorb® S Aqua for the water phase
Sunscreen formulations with a high sun protection factor require a high UV filter content. Since most UV filters are either oils or need to be dissolved in cosmetic oils, overloading of the oil phase is common. The new broad-spectrum filter Tinosorb S Aqua solves this problem. Tinosorb S Aqua is a new product variant of Tinosorb S. The new filter hence offers for the water phase an established high performance broad-spectrum UV technology with excellent photostability.
The new technology enables a balanced incorporation of Tinosorb S both in the oil and water phase which reduces the uploading of the oil phase and significantly enhances formulation flexibility. Hence, in future, customers of BASF will have more options for formulating sunscreens, particularly those with a high sun protection factor.
